Annual Wellness Exams

Whether you are straight, lesbian, bisexual, trans, married, single, sexually active or not - your annual exam is a normal and important part of taking care of your body.

Our goal at Planned Parenthood is to give you up-to-date, clear information that helps you better understand your reproductive health.

What is an Annual Exam?

An annual exam is a yearly reproductive health visit with your health care provider. Also known as well-woman visits or gynecological exams, the annual exam may involve checking your height, weight and blood pressure. It's also a chance to talk to your doctor about your period, birth control, STI testing and other aspects of your sexual health.

Your doctor may also ask questions about your medical history and health behaviors, such as your allergies or smoking and drinking habits. Be honest, so your provider can give you the best health care possible.

We offer the following services during your annual wellness checkup:

Re: Pap Tests

If you are a vagina-bodied person between the ages of 21 and 66, and you’ve had a Pap test within the past three years, please bring the following information to your appointment:

  •          Name of doctor/location who provided the Pap test
  •          Approximate date of the Pap test
  •          Result of the Pap test

This information is to ensure we provide only the health care you need. If you’re not sure if you received a Pap test, then please bring the information above to the best of your ability.

If you received your Pap test at Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri, then you do not need to bring in this information.

If you have any questions, please give us a call at 314-531-7526.

What to expect during your annual checkup:

During a pelvic exam, a health care provider examines your pelvic area. It includes your vulva and your internal reproductive organs — your cervix, ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, and vagina.

Other services we provide may help with irregular periods or no periods, painful periods, painful sex, bleeding between periods, menstrual problems (premenstrual syndrome) or even a lost tampon.

No question or concern is off limits - come to us in confidence, with confidence.

Health services are available during all business hours by appointment.
