Request for Workshop Proposals

Some populations face challenges regarding access to care and education opportunities. Undocumented immigrants, migrant workers, refugees, and individuals facing housing instability may be either permanent or transitory members of a population and reaching them can be difficult. We are looking for presenters who have found ways to provide education, health care and services to members of their communities that often exist at the margins. 

We all serve individuals with a range of sexual and gender identities (asexual, intersex, transgender, etc.) Presenters are encouraged to share best practices for the provision of sex-positive, inclusive education for all audiences. 

Relationships and sexual behaviors that fall outside conventional norms often remain unaddressed in healthcare settings or education programming. To keep all people safe, healthy, and strong, providers and facilitators need to be prepared to address all types of relationships and behaviors. Topics may include open relationships, the Lifestyle, swinging, polyamory, BDSM, kink, fetish, and other less traditional types of relationship dynamics or sexual behaviors. 

Legislation and social discussion often blur or deny the difference between sex work and sex trafficking. We are seeking workshops that address the intricacies and overlap of the two, provide tools used for outreach and education, and/or that review current legislation and its effect on the people it is designed to help. 

Presenters are encouraged to explore upstream determinants of health that lead to a lack of equitable sexual and reproductive health outcomes across populations. Workshops may address ability, racism, ageism, adultism, classism, ableism, sexism, heterosexism, and other forms of oppression. 

Change that comes from within a community offers opportunities for creating lasting change. Presenters are encouraged to share examples of programming that empowers and supports communities in finding their own solutions. 

We are soliciting workshops on programs that explore collaborations between different types of organizations to support social justice and equity. For example, restaurants facilitating workshops on entrepreneurship that showcase and uplift female-owned businesses; soup kitchens that offer professional development opportunities and training to their participants; high school students who are learning outside the classroom doing social justice work, etc.
