Anybody who has oral, anal, or vaginal sex, or genital skin-to-skin contact with another person can get STDs — in fact, almost all sexually active people get one at some point in their life.

STDs don’t usually have any symptoms. So the only way to know for sure if you or a partner has an STD is to get tested. But the good news is, getting tested is usually quick, easy, and painless. And STDs can be cured or treated with medication.

Some STDs are serious, and others are no big deal — but either way, getting treatment if you need it is the best way to help you stay healthy.
